Increase Your Search Engine Traffic in 3 Easy steps
I have to credit John Chow and Blog Clout for this tip, it’s easy as promised and works a treat.
Have you ever noticed when checking your referral stats that some visitors are arriving at your website without using the “www” preface? And did you know that when a search engine ranks a site, it differentiates between with “www” and without “www”?
For example, when performing this search on Google:
link:www.myspace.com
I get this result:
Results 1 - 10 of about 849,000 linking to www.myspace.com. (0.10 seconds)
Doing the same search without the “www” prefix yields this result:
Results 1 - 10 of about 3,050 linking to myspace.com
3000 (rounded) is about .3% of 850,000. That’s not a huge share of traffic, but if traffic were dollars and you were throwing away $3000 dollars a month on an $850,000 that you could be earning .3% on, you’d probably think twice about giving away “free” money.
Think of this as “free” hits.
You will need to check your own website using the search strings above, and don’t forget to search the three major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) to see what your numbers are.
Assuming you want to claim your “free links” by redirecting the search engines to your www site, just follow these easy steps on Blog Clout’s page. Go to my “Sunday Seven” from this past week, and select Item number Four. Here’s the Direct Link if you want to skip the other six interesting finds from last week!
