A Day in the Life of an Internet Marketer
Hi everyone! I need to apologize for the decreased frequency of my posting. It’s not that I havn’t been thinking about you guys, in fact, I have. I have been spending a good part of my free time dedicated to various “30 Day Challenge” Ideas. If you havn’t checked out Ed Dale’s 30 Day Challenge, you really need to sign up and go through the material yourself. It is 100%, I receive no affiliate commissions for sending you there, and the information is a real eye-opener for both newbies and experienced marketers alike.
I realize that instead of waiting until I have a major instructive point to share with you guys, i should instead be blogging about the small daily discoveries as I make them. I know that many of the blogs I enjoy following the most are blogs with fairly transparent posting about the ins and outs of the bloggers efforts.
So, here is a quick summary of what I’ve been doing, and I’ll be more diligent about sharing them with you. And I promise a return of the Sunday Seven as well! (I know some of you look forward to it).
Niche #1
I have 4 active Web 2.0 based sites (all free) with a handful of posts each, targeted to keyword phrases I identified as being high searches & low competition, using Ed Dale’s 30 Day Challenge Techniques. Each of the sites points to both an e-book affiliate product as well as an actual physical product. So far I’ve earned $4.74 without a lot of promotion aside from social bookmarking. one of the four platforms (blogsome.com) is outperforming all the others in terms of traffic, so I’ve been spending more energy updating that one and making it look nice and pretty.
Niche #2
Just one free platform up (blogspot), and was 2nd for my keyword phrase in Google for many days, then suddenly it vanished from the Big G entirely! It’s now back, but not quite as high as #2, but still doing well for the keyword phrase. The affiliate product is a physical product that sells for about $150 with 6.5% commisions.
Niche #3
Two free Web 2.0 based platforms (Weebly, Blogger) that are both doing reasonably well for their keywords. Affiliate product is not yet up, mostly due to laziness, but I’m keeping an eye on traffic.
How do I track all of these sites?
I was using Google analytics, but I’ve switched to StatCounter.com for these small niche sites, it’s fast to set up and not quite as bulky as Analytics, but still gives you real time statistics with recent keyword searches.
I also use the affiliate tracker through 30 Day Challenge to track click throughs to my affiliate sites. once a week (Sunday night or Monday morning), I review total hits to the site as well as clickthroughs, and enter this data in a Google Documents spreadsheet for later analysis.
All of these sites are independant of my Build a Niche Store projects, but obviously, the BANS sites can go hand in hand with the 30 Day Challenge Strategy.
What kinds of projects are you guys working on right now?
