OK, so “love letter” is out if you want to get on page one. Let’s try a longer keyword, suggested by Fender85, “How to Write a Love Letter”. Sounds like a much better term to try and rank with.
I’ll let you do the search on google this time, “How to Write a Love Letter“. If you click on that link, you’ll see only 26,000 competing pages. Much, much better.
But I bet we can do better still. Let’s get even more specific…

At the bottom of the search page for “How to Write a Love Letter“, we see that google gives us some more ideas, namely, How to Write a Love Note.
What do you see when you click on that link? That’s right, only 43 competing pages! (well, hopefully it will be 44 by the time you read this post).

So now we know how we get a first page spot on google…not for our original idea, “love letter”, but for our more defined phrase, How to Write a Love Note.
We do so by writing a short article, 300-500 words, with a keyword density of 3-5% using our chosen phrase, How to Write a Love Note.
Once our little How to Write a Love Note article is written, we post it to our blog, ping the article using Pingoat.com, Digg it, Stumble it, Delicious It, Reddit it, etc, etc.

This is pretty interesting. I also went over to wealthy affiliate to see what it had to offer.
I agree, a long tail keyword is always better than a broad search keyword. For one, you are catering to a niche, secondly the competition is lower and thridly there are higher chances of ranking at the top…

One small problem; you have to make sure that the keyword (phrase) you are using employing is in Internet usage, that is to say that people actually search using your keywords (phrase). That aside a great concept, I use this method geographically.
