Regarding control of page rank flow…each p age needs a minimum amount of page rank just to get indexed. Too many outgoing links will dilute the page rank of each page and risk enough outflow so that the page itself may not get indexed.

Controlling the flow of Pagerank means putting more flow of PR into the important pages of the site…the ones that will make you money.  With regard to WordPress, one of the popular widgets available is “archives”.  Depending on whether you have your archives listed monthly, weekly or yearly, t his list can get quite long.

Thank about it from a user point of view. Does having a monthly list of archives help them find old posts when there is almost always a “search” feature on the site?  Is it helpful to have each month of archives listed on the front page?  Probably not.  It would be just as sufficient to have a single link to the “Archives” from the front page, and have that link be “no-follow” as well.

Perhaps this simple strategy can help control the  page flow so that it does not leak to less important pages, and instead you can send it where it needs to go…to the pages that “pay the rent”.

UPDATE:  Looks like this solution has already been solved with a quick piece of header.php code fix. You can either do it yourself, or use the Duplicate cure plugin. Here are some references:

2) Uberaffiliate Affilate Marketing Guide – Is this cheating to include a 2nd link from the same domain name? This one is so valuable that you need to bookmark it, or even make it your homepage. Print out a hard copy of each of the articles, bind it, and put in next to your bed or in the bathrooom. You’ll have all the affiliate marketing information you need. I might as well close this blog!

3) How do you find purpose in your work? In this post, one of my Sunday Seven Favs, Carolyn Middlebrook shares a comment with us from a reader who is doing really well with his online income, but found that his life seemed empty and dull. Find out what he did to become happier by reading this post!

4) Trafficology with Income Hero. Another one of my favorite bloggers who is extremely articulate. I enjoy his graphical explanations of his marketing plans. Follow along on this one as he tries to build 2000 email subscribers in a week!

5) Remarkable Gimmicks by Remarkable Communication. I can’t recall how I stumbled upon this marketing/ copywriting blog, (mabye Stumble?), but she’s got a nice take here on marketing gimmicks vs. providing a value to your customer. Worth a read this afternoon.

6) Blog or not to blog has a post featuring 36,000 expiring domain names! I suppose that every day, names are expiring. If you are having trouble finding a domain name you like, check out this list, then go on over to GoDaddy and register the name of your choice!

7) Beginner’s Guide to making Money Online. In this nice succinct post, Conversion Matters summarizes about 5 ways to make money online. In case you are still scratching your head, give this a read.

2) Needless Productions ventures close to the world of Meta Cognition when he lists Five Training Tips for Better Blogging. Tip number One is “Name Your Flaws”. Being able to put a name to undesirable habits or thought patterns is a powerful motivation for change.

3) Peek Under the Hood at Gather Little By Little. A wonderful breakdown of technology, time and systems that the author uses to successfully manage his time and productivity. Compare it to your own systems and schedules. What works best for you?

4) BLog Clout comes through again with his consistently great writing and advice. 7 Blog Elements that Form a First Impression hooks you at the beginning and keeps you in until the end.

5) Get Rich Slowly has a “Eureka” moment in which his Comic Book Spending nearly equals retirement savings. Good thing he caught this in time.

6) A guest post on John Chow by blogger Justin Consuegra gives us another peek into organizing your blogging life. “What’s in your Blog Box” can surely make your posting time more productive and organized.

7) Day Job Nuker Chronicals his alternative money making activities in an effort to Nuke the Day Job. In this post, he talks about sharing the love with his readers. I’m trying to do the same with mine!

1) Dyers Better Blogroll Widget. This is an idea that had to be created. Long BlogRoll lists tend to be numbing and they minimize the importance of any single blog. Let your link love be featured by randomly displaying a limited number! Is your blog widget ready? Then head over to his site and try out the widget!

2) ProBLog design tells us how to separate comments from trackbacks by tweaking your WordPress source code.

3) Get Rich Slowly shares with us his (her?) methods for using the Amazon Marketplace to sell used CDs…it’s better than having a yard sale!

4)  Take Back Your Brain shares a radical idea…marketing to yourself!  Read this post about her self-marketing campaign to get herself to ride her bike to work every day.

5)  Carl Pei discusses his reasons for NOT trying to make money online, but instead give up the “money blog” and return it to a personal blog.   Is this really some sort of black hat strategy to gain new readership?  Stay tuned to find out!

6)  As I surf the “money” blogs trying to get to know the arena, I note that many people are motivated to earn money blogging in order to get out of debt.  How do you know if you are in debt in the first place? 5) I used to play a lot of guitar and bass, so I was happy to find this site, the Ergonomic Guitar, with some special tags on cool Bass Guitars.

6) Nerdy Nomad shares with us a website review of GoBackpacking.com  Lots of great insight here.

7)  Last, but not least, I discovered this blog while working of all things.  Personal Finance Blog is written by a former microsoft employee and documents his networth, sources of income, living strategies, etc, in a down to earth, personal manner.  While the site isn’t as graphically pleasing as many others, if you have a little patience, there is a wealth of information on this site with lots of graphs and charts.

1) Shaun Low has a fantastic article…almost better than Stumble Upon’s site, on what Stumble is and how to make the most of it.

2) Adnan at Blogtepreneur shares with us a funny interchange with scammer offering $100,000 for his blog. The funny part, though, is what happens after the scam offer…

3) One Penny Project has a new project going on this month, the 10 minutes a day project. I like this idea because it goes hand in hand with my “Where to Start?” article that has gotten a lot of hits from ProBloggers 31 day Blog Project. Check in on the One Penny Project and see how he is coming along with his 10 minutes a day!

4) Blog Clout discusses an extremely important trick that can improve your search engne traffic by 15-20%, www or no-www … and takes only 3 minutes!

5) Cash Quests shows us a slick way to disguise affiliate links by using aptly named directories which contain the redirect script…your viewer never needs to see the full link.

6) Lynn Terry of Click News brings us 5 Internet Marketing Strategies … in the CORRECT order! Her insight should be helpful to people just getting started.

7) SEO Tips from Aaran Wall, an interview on ProBlogger, has a wealth of practical advice.  Succinct and required for any blogger intersted in marketing his or her site.

I wanted to make a simple change to my default Cutline style sheet by Chris Pearson, including removing the bullets from my sidebar lists (blogroll, recent posts, etc) and adding a unique image to the bulleted lists on my blog entries. The first two features in Sunday Seven helped me do exactly that. Leave a comment or email below if you need more specifics on how I did it.

1) Listutorial contains everything you ever needed to know about customizing ordered, unordered & bulleted lists on your site, including alignment, vertical, horizontal, background colors & images.

2) StyleGala has a page titled “Bullet Madness” with over 200 bullet icons. Check for copyright issues before using.

3) Last week, we learned about how to get people talking about you on a guest post at NorthXEast. One of the keys was being unique or first. The author made a “donate” plugin, but instead of calling it “donate”, he called it the “Buy me a Beer” plugin. It rocks and you see it everywhere. This link is a news post, and not from a blogger, but it demonstrates the same idea. A woman gives her Michael Vick cards to her dogs to chew & slobber upon, and she raised over $7000 on eBay. Soon after, copycat collectors tried the same, but only the original auction caused such a stir!

4) Blogging Fingers tells us how to correct a mistake in your RSS feed after you’ve already published your post. I’ve always wondered about this, but never even thought it was possible to correct the feed!

5) Adnan of blogtepreneur gives some great advice on how to make a Static Word Press site, something helpful for a business based website in which the blog is not the primary feature. Be sure to read Part I and Part II

6)  Charle’s Lau of Cash Quests discusses becoming Remarkable for only $10.  The theme of this post is similar to what my friend’s dad used to say when we were in high school.  “A clean car runs better.”  Obviously the engine’s function has nothing to do with dirt on the car, but an owner who cares for the outside probably cares for the inside.  The same applies to web site design and it’s content, according to Charles.

1) Skellie Wag has a great post about How to create and publish your own e-book with a $0 budget. Can’t go wrong with that!

2) BlogClout gives us great advice to help decide how frequently to post to your blog. His insight takes into account your available time, your clients, your source of income & most importantly, your blog readers.

3) NorthxEast guest writer Ankesh Khotari tells us the Secret to Getting others to Talk about you. Ankesh is also the author of BlogClout, above, but his writing is great, so he deserves two links this week! [Update:] Apparently this post was featured on Digg and del.icio.us and was obviously a big hit. I’m not being a copycat here…I found it straight from the source and included it because it rocks (obviously)

4) The One Penny Project talks about Proper Commenting, and includes strategies on finding good blog posts on which to comment, which ultimately, leads to better networking, and more people to your own blog!

5) Matt Jones from Blogging Fingers talks about Achieving exactly what you want with your blog.
